The producer of a movie that’s been filming in Floyd County is looking for help with some upcoming scenes.

Local resident Ken Wheeler is asking local church or civic groups to feed hundreds of experienced Civil War re-enactors scheduled to shoot a scene July 19 for “Dixie Times.”

The movie tells the story of fictional news reporter Alice Bently, who writes small-time stories that become headlines for the Dixie Times. The plot plays out as Bently runs into trouble when certain controversial news comes her way.

The movie’s crew is also looking for extras for three days of filming at the Haralson County courthouse. The courthouse scenes will be shot July 20-22, and extras should wear casual clothes.

Filming for “Dixie Times” began June 15 in Cave Spring at the annual Cave Spring Arts and Craft Festival. Filming has taken place all across Floyd County as well as in Buchanan in Haralson County. Local band Free Will Offering also has been featured.

Recently, the crew filmed the Cave Spring Fourth of July parade.

“It was exactly what we were looking for,” Wheeler said. “It was perfect.”

Anyone who participated in the parade and would like a screen credit in the movie should contact Wheeler to fill out a talent release form, he said.
