if saved from GDOT project fort attaway has chance to be linked to
Chickamauga campaign heritage trail and 500,000 visitors a year
Raymond Evans is a
Cultural Anthropologist with over 40 years of experience. He is the
man that speared headed the saving of Moccasin Bend in Chattanooga.
He is the man that conducted all the research and production for
Chickamauga's Campaign Heritage Trail brochure. Mr. Evans conducted
an evaluation and research on Fort Attaway this last September, and
produced a report. He reported to Mr. John Culpepper, City Manager
of Chickamauga and Chairman of the Georgia Civil War Commission, and
Mr. Culpepper is very interested in helping Fort Attaway and adding
Fort Attaway and Rome to their Heritage Trail brochure.

Greater Rome Convention and visitors bureau and marlin Teat spread
inaccurate information to tourists
In early 2006 a driving
tour brochure of Rome's Civil War sites to be written by Marlin Teat
was commissioned and paid for by the Greater Rome Convention and
Visitors Bureau. In October 2006 Fort Attaway acquired a copy of
Teat's rough draft. In our opinion it is a continuation of the
Georgia Department of Transportation's inaccurate account of Rome's
Civil War history with both versions directed at omitting Fort
Attaway from their accounts of Rome's Civil War history.
A copy of Marlin Teat's
rough draft for the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau is
